Here at Wordans we’re lucky enough to have an open policy on bringing dogs to work, which is great for dog owners. It’s also great for people like me, who don’t have a dog, but want some in our lives from time to time. I mean who doesn’t immediately feel happier when they get to work to find dogs running around?
Picking a top 5 is a bit mean, and we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but most of these dogs don’t even read the blog, so we’re going to do our best. Time to meet our 5 favorite visitors to the Wordans office.
1. Zoe
The boss. Also owned by the boss, although no one can really own Zoe. She’s the mainstay, our most regular office visitor, and she’s in charge (she even has her own business). How much time other dogs spend here often depends on how well they get on with Zoe. Do we have to leave the kitchen bin on a table so she doesn’t open and upend it to find her breakfast? Yes. Will she creep up behind you on your way back to your desk and snatch that cookie right out of your hand? Oh yes. But we love her, and things just wouldn’t be the same without her.
2. Groot
Groot is the friendliest dog at Wordans. He always brings his son, Martini, to work, but sadly the son hasn’t made our list. We’re aware of the family tension this might generate, but Martini keeps himself to himself, and we’ve only got 5 spaces, so we have to be ruthless. I once asked how you tell them apart and was told– If he comes to say hello, it’s Groot. Groot gets on with everyone in the office, and we think he makes a great dad too.
3. Enzo
If we were picking on looks alone, Enzo might take the top spot. I mean just look at him, he’s gorgeous. Enzo doesn’t come to the office that often because he can get a bit overexcited. He’s not aggressive, but a whole day at work can be a bit much, bless him. He also peed in the finance department one time, but we forgive him, because just look at him.
4. Felipe
The office darling. He’s cute and he knows it. Felipe loves to pose– he even has his own Instagram. He’s so comfortable in the office environment that he’s perfectly happy to have a snooze on a desk. We don’t get to see as much of Felipe as we’d like, so if his owner is reading this, don’t be so controlling and let him come to the office more.
5. Albertina
The other half of the Zoe/Albertina double act. The Mike to her Sully, the Donkey to her Shrek, the Rocket to her Groot (the other Groot). No pair has formed quite as much of a bond as these two. We’ll always remember Albertina careening round a corner as she chases after Zoe, her little legs moving too fast for the slippery floor. It’s almost as cute as watching her run in the other direction when Zoe decides it’s her time to chase. She loves a belly rub, and has won a space in our hearts, as well as our top 5.
The Ones that Got Away
It’s not all good news when it comes to dogs at Wordans. As with any company, sometimes we lose people, and sometimes, in a fit of cruelty, they take their dogs with them. Lupito was one of our favorites, until he decided he didn’t want to live in a bag on our floor anymore and moved to Madrid. When Pepito moved on there was a day of mourning, at losing the most adorable ball of cuteness there has ever been.
We wouldn’t change a thing though, it’s better to have loved and lost and all that. As well as cute photos, we like to impart a bit of knowledge with our blog posts, so today’s lesson is this: for any companies that are looking to improve employee welfare, it’s perfectly simple– just have dogs in the office.
We’re joking of course– you can’t buy, rent or adopt dogs at Wordans. You can get great-value apparel, accessories, and promo products though. So if you need anything that’s not a living creature, you can probably find it on our website. If you’d like to see our products in action, head over to our Instagram @wearewordans, which is managed exclusively by dogs (not really).
