Top 5 Christmas Gifts for Employees & Clients

3 business people exchanging gifts for Christmas. Everyone is wearing Santa hats.

They’ve put in the long-hours and have smashed every KPI that you’ve set, so they deserve a reward. Making your employees feel valued is one of the top factors in keeping the best people in their jobs.

With customers, a little gesture can go a long way, and a well-thought out Christmas gift can keep them coming back again and again. So check out our favourite corporate gift ideas that will ensure your staff and customers feel appreciated.

1. Mugs & Bottles

The first item on our list is a corporate gifting classic. Mugs and water bottles are affordable enough for most companies, but not so cheap that they’re not useful. Everyone wants a few of these for their home or office, so we’re always happy to get another one.

Mugs and bottles also let you get a little creative. As well as company branding, you can add a little Christmas message or joke, and turn a simple piece of drinkware into a super cool Christmas gift. To go the extra mile, you can even personalize individual gifts for your most valuable clients and staff members, so they get a Christmas gift they’ll remember for sure.

2. Wristwatches

The premium option. Watches aren’t the most affordable corporate gifts, so you probably won’t give them out to every customer, or every staff member. They do send an extra special message though, and help to forge bonds with key clients at the highest level. Many watches can also be engraved if you’d like to leave a special message on the back.

3. Winter Accessories

Clothing is a great choice when it comes to gifts, but it’s not always easy to please everyone. Opting for accessories takes off much of the burden, with sizes and genders at least. It also gives you the chance to go for something Christmassy– a nice pair of gloves or a beanie is much more seasonal than just getting a t-shirt, and you can get some with Christmas designs on to add to the effect.

The most popular choices are beanie hats, scarves and gloves– and if you’re putting a pack together, the three together look great. Branding opportunities are a little more limited than they are with t-shirts and hoodies, but you can still print or embroider on many accessories. Beanies with a patch on the front are an excellent choice here.

4. Cozy Blankets

A fairly left-field option, these are a great choice for Christmas. The gift of warmth and coziness always goes down well at this time of year, and what better way to do that than with a comfy sherpa blanket. As well as leaving a positive impression on the recipient, their loved ones, and anyone else who gets cozy under the blanket, will always remember your company in a positive light.

Other items in this vein that you can gift are big thick socks or slippers to wear around the house– all are surefire ways to get people into that cozy winter mood.

5. Laptop Bags

Last but certainly not least on our list is the laptop bag. Bags are always a good idea when giving out gifts. They’re already great gifts, and they also give you something to put the rest of your goodies in. The standard is the tote, but if you have people who’ve been particularly important to your company this year, why not step it up and go for a laptop bag?

A higher quality item, people tend to use them for a lot longer, and are more appreciative of their gift. They cost more of course, but you can still get some for a great price. They are also the ultimate branding tool– backpack logos don’t get covered up, and all the extra use they get gives your brand extra exposure.

Benefits of Corporate Gifting

Now you’ve got the gift ideas, but you still might need convincing to go ahead with corporate gifting this year– I mean what’s in it for you? For some, altruism is enough of a reason to hand out gifts to those who’ve helped your company throughout the year. In the business world though, it’s not always enough, and investments have to be squared off with the finance department. If your CFO is a bit of a grinch–  how do you convince them that the outlay is worthwhile?

Business owners have long since figured out that the costs of high staff turnover are significant, and can be much higher than the cost of making your workers feel happy and appreciated. Being rewarded at Christmas can go a long way towards helping employees forget any issues they might have had over the year.

Another one of the main benefits is branding. Corporate gifting is a great opportunity to create branded products that can be seen by plenty of people, and help forge a positive image of your company. If you buy in bulk you can customize fairly cheaply these days, so it’s a highly effective method of advertising.
