The battle of the blank apparel brands continues, and this time, we’re focusing on hoodies.
As with t-shirts, there are many contenders in the hoodie market, and in this article, we’ll be comparing mid-priced blank options. All of these hoodies are excellent for printing and typically range from €15 to €25, depending on the size and quantity ordered. While there are cheaper and more premium options available – which we’ll cover later – this article focuses on hoodies where you pay just a little more than the minimum rate to get better quality. This price range is particularly popular with printers and other businesses.
In our previous comparison of mid-range t-shirts, we featured Bella+Canvas and Build Your Brand, and one of these brands returns this time. Now, it’s joined by AWDis Just Hoods and B&C. All three brands offer great quality at an affordable price, but which blank hoodie is the best for your business, or even just for yourself?
An Overview of the Brands
When it comes to blank apparel, these three brands stand out as some of the most respected names in the industry. B&C, based in Belgium, has built a strong reputation for quality and consistency. AWDis Just Hoods, from England and Wales, is widely known for its cosy, stylish hoodies and casual wear. Meanwhile, Build Your Brand, a German powerhouse, has made a lasting impact on the streetwear scene, blending trendy designs with premium quality.
While all three brands specialise in blank apparel, each brings something unique to the table.
Who Makes the Best Hoodies?
All of these brands offers multiple hoodies. Build Your Brand has more premium hoodies, it offers including zip-ups and oversized versions. The brand is best known for its mid-priced clothing though, so for this comparison, we’ve picked out the BYB006.
AWDis Just Hoods offers a wide range of colours and even kids’ versions, making it a strong mid-range option. For this comparison, we’ve selected their classic staple: the JH001
B&C has positioned itself between the budget and mid-range market. Here, we’re looking at the ID223, which is €5 or so cheaper than the other two hoodies.
Build Your Brand BYB006 vs AWDis Just Hoods JH001 vs B&C ID223
These three hoodie staples are all high-quality options at an affordable price. Exact prices vary depending on your location and order quantity, but with a good wholesale supplier, they should cost around €15–30. If you don’t have a reliable wholesale supplier– well, that’s where we come in.
The B&C hoodie is the most budget-friendly option, with smaller sizes in bulk being particularly cost-effective.
Before diving deeper, let’s take a look at the key specs– here’s how these hoodies compare at a glance:
| Build Your Brand BYB006 | AWDis Just Hoods JH001 | B&C ID223 |
|---|---|---|
|
Colours: 7 Weight: 330g/m² Sizes: S - 5XL |
Colours: 99 Weight: 280g/m² Sizes: XS - 3XL |
Colours: 10 Weight: 280g/m² Sizes: XS - 3XL |
The first thing that stands out is the number of colours, with AWDis Just Hoods boasting an impressive 99 options. Build Your Brand comes in last with seven, but they are earthy tones that give the hoodie a natural look.
All three start at XS, but the BYB006 goes up to 5XL. Keep in mind that these are the total colours manufactured– the availability will depend on your location and supplier.
Each hoodie features ribbed cuffs and waistband, but the B&C hoodie differs in terms of pockets– while they all have kangaroo pockets, the ID223’s is slightly smaller.
They all come with a drawcord hood, but while Build Your Brand opts for taped ends, the others use a knot. Personally, I prefer taped ends, as they help prevent the cord from fraying or breaking.
Fabric and Comfort
When it comes to fabric, AWDis Just Hoods has a higher cotton percentage, giving it a more breathable feel. It’s also one of the lightest and best for warmer weather, yet it doesn’t feel flimsy. The extra cotton adds some softness, but B&C achieves this too with its ring-spun cotton. It’s a close call, but the JH001 still has the best overall feel.
The Build Your Brand BYB006 is the thickest at 330 g/m², making it a true heavyweight hoodie. As well as being the warmest, it also provides an oversized look. However, all three hoodies hold up excellently after multiple washes– shrinkage, fading, and pilling are minimal, and the stitching remains solid.
In terms of printing, all these hoodies are blends, making them suitable for most methods, especially DTG. In general, a higher cotton content produces more detailed results, while a higher polyester content improves durability over time. When it comes to embroidery, thicker fabric works best, so the Build Your Brand hoodie is the strongest option of the three. That said, the difference is minimal, and we haven’t noticed any significant variation in printing results.
Fit and Style
Our hoodies are designed to fit as many people as possible, so most have a regular, easy-to-wear fit, though there are some differences. Build Your Brand hoodies have a more oversized, relaxed look. The AWDis Just Hoods JH001 is the most fitted, but still looks laid-back and comfortable. The B&C ID233 sits somewhere in between – not too loose, not too tight – making it a great middle-ground option.
Sustainability
All three brands – AWDis Just Hoods, B&C, and Build Your Brand – have made efforts towards more sustainable production. AWDis Just Hoods offers products made from ringspun cotton and features an organic cotton range, but their sustainability practices are not as extensive as some other brands.
B&C stands out with their GOTS-certified organic cotton and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, making their products a more eco-friendly choice, with a focus on responsible sourcing and ethical manufacturing.
Build Your Brand, while offering good-quality apparel, has less visibility on sustainability practices compared to the other two brands, although it does provide organic cotton options.
Overall, B&C appears to be the most committed to sustainability, especially with its eco-certifications and focus on organic materials.
The Verdict
The AWDis Just Hoods JH001 is one of the most comfortable options. It strikes a great balance in terms of weight and price, plus it comes in the widest range of colours. You really can’t go wrong with this one.
The B&C ID223 is the best budget-friendly option. It’s a lighter hoodie, making it an excellent choice if you prefer something less heavy, and it still offers a solid selection of colours.
If you’re after a stylish, on-trend look, the Build Your Brand BB006 stands out. Despite its weight and thickness, it has a lovely texture, and the oversized, relaxed fit makes it highly fashionable right now. Price-wise, it’s a bit more expensive than the others, but if you’re buying in bulk, you can save quite a bit.
Final Decision:
Personal preference is key, but for us, the Build Your Brand BYB006 looks the best and offers the best value of the three.
That said, the AWDis Just Hoods JH001 was a close contender, thanks to its comfort, versatility, and wide colour range.
