Let’s continue with our Creators Month celebration! If you’re our regular blog follower you may already know that in April, at Wordans we pay special attention to all fashion entrepreneurs running custom apparel businesses. For this reason, we decided to dedicate this month to our most talented creators and embrace their success stories in our Wordans blog.
At Wordans we believe that the success of our customers is also our own victory. We are proud to be a part of the business journey of those young creatives and to see our customers’ custom apparel businesses growing all around the world! In today’s article, we had the pleasure of interviewing one of our customers Eva, the owner of Atelier Hibou Blanc – “Handmade stuff from our happy place to yours”.
Tell us a bit about your business.
Hi, I’m Eva The founder of Atelier Hibou Blanc. The Atelier is a small shop where you can find stuff from a mug to an embroidered crewneck (yes yes, from Wordans). One of our specialties is definitely any type of Custom orders. We ship worldwide (even to Australia) from Montreal well to be more precise from our little Atelier.
What made you decide to start your own business?
Since the moment that I started crafting I had that crazy idea of having a small business, but I told myself not to start anything until I wasn’t ready to sacrifice everything for it. I didn’t know much when I started but I did know I wanted more freedom to be able to do everyday something I love.
What was the biggest challenge at first and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge was and is definitely to be motivated everyday no matter good or bad days you have. I had to start to be disciplined (not as easy as it sounds… I’m still learning how I can improve my work).
Where do you find your inspiration?
My main source of inspiration are other small business owners and their hard work. I also like to read a lot of positive/motivational quotes every day (I promise it helps you to never forget why you started). And last but nt least; I make daily, weekly & monthly goals to keep me motivated to always do better.
Which techniques are you using to customize your products?
We customize our products with embroidery, heat transfer vinyl, sublimation and screen printing. It always depends on what final results we’re looking for.
How did you find out about Wordans?
I was doing my research for suppliers and as soon as I found the page I loved how user-friendly it was, especially for a beginner like me.
Why have you chosen Wordans as your supplier?
First they ship to Canada (& thank you so much for that Wordans), but also because they have a lot of choice and they ship fast.
What advice would you give to other people who would like to launch their own e-commerce business?
Don’t think just do it! It doesn’t matter if you don’t know much.
- Try to learn something every day
- Socialize with people in the same industry as you (networking is so underrated).
- If you have a bad day, finish the day doing or eating something you love.
Don’t (I’m no expert but here are some of my mistakes)
- Don’t compare your Day #6 with Day #426 of someone else.
- Don’t forget why you started (never).
- Don’t drop your prices because you’re new.
What are your plans for the future?
To continue to grow my business, I still have a lot to learn. But also to become an inspiration to other small business owners (Thinking about adding a blog to my shop).
We would like to thank Eva for taking part in this interview and sharing her success story with us. We believe that you are already an inspiration for other young entrepreneurs and hopefully, this interview will help to spread your beautiful business story worldwide and inspire an example to follow! We wish you all the best in your entrepreneurial career and we hope that your future goals will become a reality!
